Prime spot for our first night on the road. |
First night on the road and we are parked for the night on
the waterfront at Harwich, the best seat in town watching the boats coming in
and out of the port, fascinating.
But back to yesterday and all went sweetly. Needed to get a
part for the water system, so with all the kitchen units pulled out we first
popped down to Johnson’s where the East European lads gave the van a good wash
and polish to get rid of the winter grime while we went into the store and did
the grocery shopping. This has become a bit of a routine when we arrive and it
works really well. Unfortunately, they didn’t have the parts Ian needed but
when we got back to the house, Kathy offered to take Ian to the hardware store.
Very grateful as it saved driving Ruakiwi across town, and thankfully they had
the part he needed. Then it was off to
the testing station and thankfully we got the MOT, although will need to
replace the exhaust pipe which we knew was rusting out. Back to Steve and Kathy’s
and Ian set too and worked on the water system. It was with baited breath as we
turned the water pump on again but all good although he decided to leave
refitting the kitchen cupboards until this morning, just in case it leaked
again overnight!!! But all good.
Finally, able to finish packing the van and it was farewell
to Steve and Kathy this morning and we were “On the Road Again”!!! Took the
motorway most of the way as a good chance for a shakedown and give Ruakiwi a
bit of a blowout. Normally we have
stayed at a camping ground about 30 minutes’ drive from the port, but found
this parking spot on my App and decided to try it out.
