Saturday October 27, Le Treport

Slept surprisingly well with the wind and squalls and woke to a very cold morning. Quickly got up and turned the heating on and crawled back under the duvet until it was warm enough to get up! There were a few hardy souls rugged up and braving the weather but not me!
The temperatures didn’t hit double figures all day, but by later in the morning the squall’s eased and the sun even came out. We continued up the coastal road through Dieppe and onto Le Treport which is at the entrance to the Somme River. It has a good Municipal Campground that has electricity ….. decided with this weather we needed to run our little electric heater rather than use the gas.
Arrived early afternoon and decided to rug up and walk into town for lunch and a look around. Town was a little further than we anticipated but all flat and an enjoyable walk past a very big marina and fishing boat port before getting to the town centre with plenty of restaurants to choose from. Enjoyed a really good sea food Plat du Jour. Further on into town came across the local fish sellers market and couldn’t believe the variety of fish and shell food for sale. The scallops looked really yummy but at €40/kg (or with our exchange rate – NZ$80) left them behind! Can imagine what this town is like during the holiday season but today there were no takers for the merry go round or the ice cream stand. It’s an interesting town but didn’t have the charm of St Valery where we were yesterday.
By the time we got back to the van we were very happy to plug the heater in and warm up.

The sun was shining...just!

Waiting for next summer!
