Thursday June 22, Mazeres sur Salat

Rode through this wonderful countryside.

Managed to sleep very well last night with the help of some earplugs! And thanks to Bonnie, we thoroughly enjoyed our duck breast last night for dinner. Had the best intentions of getting started early for our bike ride but it was 9.30 before we left. And Lyn Davidge I am proud to say we rode 22.5kms one way so a 45kms round trip which took us about 3 ½ hours. Equivalent of cycling around Lake Rotorua!!!
It was such a great ride following the old rail track which took us through little villages and very lush farmlands in the Midi-Pyrenees. Much of the track was through trees and nicely shaded which we thoroughly appreciated on our return when the temperatures were starting to climb into the 30’s. With not having to worry about other vehicles it is such a relaxing ride, and will be looking for more of these sort of rides as we travel along.

Stopped at a very old church and cemetery on the bike path.

Had lunch and a bit of a rest when we got back, then decided to push on a bit further to an Aire I had spotted beside the Sault River in the village of Mazeres, about an hour’s drive away. Once again, we parked under the plane trees, essential as the temperature hit 36 degrees, then took our chairs down to the river and sat under a tree, just so pleasant and so much cooler. Seems that things are going to start cooling off tomorrow, here’s hoping as we are finding the heat very limiting.

A little concerned with the amount of shots with dad and his shirt off Meg. :-)

Looks like some amazing countryside.

Off to Eden park soon - should be a great match-up. Looking for a close game.

Have you noticed Deano, no frontal shots of the old boy! Meg may require a wide angle lens for that. Hehehe. Sisters are allowed to take the mickey.

You two are being rather mean on the old fella!!! At least he is getting a good tan. Great AB outcome, let's hope TNZ do the same.
