Lake Page from the Hoover Dam..the little boat on the water shows the scale!

Woke to another clear blue sky morning with the reflections of the rocks on the river, although have to say I am missing my clouds, photographers need clouds! A number of skiers were enjoying the still morning water - memories of Lake Tarawera! First stop this morning was Lake Havasu, and the drive through amazed us by the sheer number of riverside settlements that were full of holiday cabins and RV parks, seemingly just wall to wall.

London Bridge...at Lake Havasu!

The English theme was everywhere.

Lake Havasu had grown to be a city of over 50,000 residents since the 60’s when it was designed from scratch by a developer who had the forethought to make the most of a great location…even if it is in the desert. He also bought the London Bridge and transported it stone by stone to the city, reconstructed it, then dug a channel under it to form an island creating a real tourist attraction in the city.
Continued north on freeways through the desert to the Hoover Dam on the Colorado River, the first day it had been open since the Government Shutdown. It is one of those engineering feats that we have all heard about; we really enjoyed driving over it and walking around, the landscape is spectacular.

The Dam and the new bridge which has recently been opened.

Then it was onto Las Vegas and straight into a good city camp (thanks Keith and Holly for the recommendation), another half price one using Passport America membership. It was late afternoon, so good to pull in and relax after another long day on the road. We have covered far more mileage over the past three days than we normally do, but wanted to be able to spend as much time as possible in this extremely scenic region. Tomorrow will be a day to look around the city and the strip…!!!!
Las Vegas...here we come!

Kiaora Meg and Ian, pleased that you have all the options to visit and stay restored, Politicians are the same the world over. I do enjoy seeing the skeleton of the world exposed in those dry locations, in this gentle part of the world it is all covered with greenery. Got thru the first week back at work, must be relaxed because computer problems aren't causing me to errupt. Sat pm here, left home early with others for aerial spray work, we were all on site by 6-15am, got a call from pilot fault with machine, got another call shortly after to advise the engineer thought it would take at least 4 hrs to fix so cancel work for day. My lemonade was to take the rifle from behind the seat and go for a walk, some fresh pig rooting but no contacts. All Blacks play Australia this evening so will be priority viewing. Lovely to stay in contact, Lots of Love Vicki n Ed.
