Friday Oct 18 Duck Creek Camp, Las Vegas

Well it has been a day to experience Las Vegas, been heaps of fun, we came, we have seen, and now we are ready to head to the hills!
Ian found a Sportsmans Warehouse which happened to be on the far side of Las Vegas, we set Gilly the GPS for it and just followed her. It took us on the freeway through the centre of town then through a number of interchanges and finally got there without a wrong turning, but the speed of the traffic was pretty scary. I don’t think we are really made for cities! It was worth the trip though, Ian thoroughly enjoyed himself, and after a bit more shopping we managed to get back to camp in one piece, this time the freeway actually went under the Las Vegas airport runway, we did have major concerns that Gilly didn’t know what she was doing, but all ended well.
Late this afternoon it was time for a visit to “The Strip” but this time we used public transport. We got all the information from the camp about the buses but were so fortunate as at the bus stop got talking to Anthony, a guy who has been staying at the camp for awhile and was able to get us sorted on what to do. In fact he too was heading to the strip so we had a guide to get us started.
All I can say is “WOW”, it was so much bigger and brighter than we ever expected. It was the happy crowds enjoying themselves, the intriguing buskers, the girls dressed as playgirls waiting to have their photos taken and then the riot of colour, just about more than you could take in.
Like everyone who visits Vegas, we saw Bellagio’s water show which was just amazing and inside the Autumn/Halloween themed floral display was fabulous. Had a meal and some drinks but sorry Nina, didn’t play the pokies!!!
We managed to find the bus to get us to the first stop, and as we boarded the second bus we saw that Anthony was on it…such a relief as we weren’t sure in the dark exactly where we needed to get off.
We are a couple of pretty weary kiwis tonight, but really pleased that we saw Vegas!

Like bees around a honey pot!!!
