A pefect place to camp and relax |
Today has
been one of these truly perfect days, it is what life in an RV is all about.
Woke to a very clear cooler morning, the air was fresh. Last night we had been
talking with Pam from Napa
Valley. We met Pam and
Gary in 2010 on our Alaska travels and became
good friends, but sadly the following year Gary passed away after a short battle with
cancer. Pam mentioned a great campsite that they had stayed at which overlooks
the coast on Route 1, it just sounded like our sort of place.
We
travelled north on Route 101 through Mendocino County with Willie Nelson
singing away, it was a really great drive through some ranch country and then
climbing into the hills. At Leggett we took Route 1 out to the coast, Pam had
mentioned that it was quite a windy road, and the sign at the start said
vehicles over 40 feet not permitted so knew what we were in for, but the
traffic was light and we managed it fine.
And then we
found the campground right on the coast, just WOW. Found a great site, it was
early afternoon so poured a glass of wine and had lunch and lazed the afternoon
away in the warm sun. Had our first campfire of the trip while Ian cooked spare
ribs for dinner…..perfect!
