Monday September 2, Labour Day, Rivers End Campground
Tomatoes,
sweetcorn, red onions, sweet onions, blueberries, crab, smoked salmon, fresh salmon, bottled
(canned) tuna……these are all the home grown or home prepared local foods that
the wonderful people in this camp have given us ( maybe we look a little
thin??!!), and just now as I am writing my blog, two plates of warm blueberry
pudding cake with cream is brought to our van for dessert. How can we ever
thank you…Jean and Don, Mary and Doug, Jane and Mitch and Karen and Doug. What
amazing hospitality, I hope one day we can reciprocate in New Zealand.
Have to say that this is the best camp we have ever stayed in all our travels,
thank you.
And on a
more mundane note we have had a quiet day at camp, but the best thing is we now
have a new loo, a real royal flush!!!. Ian took the old one out and replaced it
with a new one that was left in the camp by campers who installed it but it
didn’t work for them. It is perfect, has a porcelain bowl and is sitting 3”
higher than the other….need I say more!!!! And there are no leaks.
A large
number of campers left today but a group still gathered tonight for drinks.
There are quite a few bald eagles in the area and one flew in to the tree near
where we were all chatting and sat there for some 10 minutes enjoying the last
of the sun. Even managed a few shots of it, then gathered some shots of fellow
campers.
