Friday June 4, Missoula, MO
I can’t believe it but today, I have not taken a photo…it had been raining for much of the day and seem to have been getting “stuff” done for the van while we have been here.
First stop was to get a rim for Ruakiwi, Ian has decided that we need a spare wheel for the trip to Alaska, from what we understand this is a good call, although not sure how we jack the van up and undo the wheel nuts as she’s not the lightest girl on the road. I think he also got a big wheel brace and a jack and hopefully when we are in need, a big truckie will come along!
Then to the tire shop to have the rubber fitted. I have been traveling with Casey’s phone book and Jilly as we meandered around town to all these places, just feel like a local!.
Back to Ford to leave Ruakiwi to have the ABS brake light fitted, and she also needed front brake linings done. Casey collected us and it was off to the biggest grocery store I have ever seen…Costco. This is a member only store, $50 a year to join, but the prices are amazing, although the size of the packets is a bit on the large size for us.
Tomorrow morning is the Placenta Planting Party for Ophelia, so Casey was shopping for food, it is going to be a sort of a brunch, and she has bought a Rhododendron to plant on the placenta. As I said to Casey, I have never seen a placenta in the flesh, it is going to be very intriguing. Casey got it out of the freezer this evening, I haven’t looked yet.

Ian and I drove the new truck (Rambo) to meet Richard at city hall where he had to register it, and we had to get a new annual rego for Ruakiwi. There are no WOF’s here, all we had to take was proof of insurance, he asked us if we were still at the same address, and no ID was required. It is a very busy office as none of this can be done online. Now have the new sticker for the licence plate and we are all legit for another year.
I cooked tea tonight….found a piece of boned lamb at Costco…hate to admit that it was Australian lamb though. But it was GOOD, and so was the fresh asparagus. Forgot to say we found a large container of fresh cherries at Costco as well, think they were 3lb (1.5kgs) for $7 and they are really sweet and meaty.
