Sunday August 9, Durango CO

The batteries feel recharged after a day of lazing around and catching up on washing and blogs etc. After 6 weeks of travelling it has been so good to just relax. Sat down with Andy and planned a route for the next 5 weeks as we travel north to Montana, excited with what is ahead, as we follow the Rockies.

We were lucky to be allowed to look after Opal while Andy and Julie went for a bike ride, she was very good and both her and Ian slept in the chair, Opal seemed to enjoy Ian’s contoured tum!

Helped Andy by taking some photos of his benchtops for his website, these really are brilliant. The pieces of recycled glass in them give it real life.

A local treat for tea – take outs from the “Serious Texas Barbecue”. www.serioustexasbbq.com The best ribs we have ever eaten, along with spicy beans, pulled pork sandwiches….and cold beer to go with it. Real Western food at its best.

Hey guys!!! We were just catching up on your adventures and looking forward to them bringing you our way pretty soon! I have to say, I absolutely LOVE seeing my home state, Colorful Colorado (as they say), through the eyes of Ruakiwi and your stunning photos, Meg. I feel a real nostalgic pang of homesickness and an even deeper sense of pride when I read about and look at some of my favorite places from growing up there. Ouray is one of my all time favorite spots in the world. Right up there with Lake Terawera! I have so many awesome memories in Durango, too, and way too much fun at the Sand Dunes! Can't wait to catch up. Give us a call/Skype when you have another chance. Week days around 7p is a good time to catch us all. Love, The Masseys. (Meg, we are so sorry about your dad. Hope you are finding peace in your travels. xx)
