Wednesday October 1

October 1 Wednesday Conensus Lake

We had heard about the Camping World chain, and all holiday had been wanting to visit one… finally went to the Syracuse branch, arriving at 9am. We couldn’t believe the size of the place, there was a yard was full of hundreds of trailers (what we call a 5th wheels) and motor homes of all shapes and sizes.
The store contains everything you could possible think you would need for life on the road plus a multitude of things you didn’t even know existed. The main reason we wanted to visit was to replace the television with a digital version, as from next year that is the only signal that will be available, also the present aerial did not seem to be working. As Camping World also have a huge workshop they can fit anything you buy, and we were most surprised that they could get the job done for us immediately. The vehicle also need an oil change, and that could be done as well! The huge workshop was just humming, with space to work on almost 20 rigs at the same time.
All the work was done in one bay by the same chap, from fitting the aerial and the TV to the grease. The job took most of the day, and after spending hours browsing through the store, we were able to relax in an extremely comfortable customer lounge with leather couches and watch the happenings on the financial crisis and the election on CNN.
We have only ever seen one other Born Free motorhome on the road in our whole trip, and were surprised to find another one in the workshop having a fitting put into its black waste tank. Had a most interesting chat with the owner who had purchased it second hand in June, and like us had researched all the available brands and chosen the Born Free as the best made model. Ed was a retired American history professor from Bonaventure University in NY, and we spent an extremely interesting few hours chatting with him about life in the US.
It was almost 5 when we were back on the road, and took the toll road, I90 west for over 60 miles at a cost of $6.20. It was a good drive, travelling at 65mph most of the way. Had marked a campground south west on Conensus Lake and Jilly didn’t put a foot wrong and by 6.45 we had arrived. The weather is still very grey with a bit of rain and the temperature is really dropping. Very few photos today!

Thank you, glad you have enjoyed it. I have had a lot of fun putting it together each day for the past 3 months...sadly our trip is just about finished.
