Back in UK...the historic church at Coleby

Ooops, another bit of a lapse and a very brief catch up..again!!!

Ian spent our last two days at the marina using the sander and giving Ruakiwi a real gloss while I got the inside ship shape, feeling very virtuous by Friday night so popped off down to the village for a few drinks. Ordered the shared tapa plate which was so good but huge – it defeated us!
It was off to the Hook of Holland on Saturday morning for our afternoon ferry back to UK. And once again we had a very calm crossing. The ferry was completely full as it is the end of the school holidays, and the row we were parked in was the last one to leave…and by the time we passed through customs it was getting very late and quite dark. We find this the worst drive of the holiday as we have to readjust to being on the other side of the road in our left-hand drive vehicle, remember to use the roundabouts in the opposite direction, and the roads are narrow. Always pleased to arrive at the campsite and relax.
The weather couldn’t have been better on Sunday morning as we drove north to Steve and Kathy’s with clear blue skies, perfect first day of Autumn. Steve had booked a table at a country pub in Coleby for a late Sunday lunch, so nice to have a leisurely drive through the English countryside. Just loved the little pub which was extremely popular and no wonder as the food was superb. I had just been talking about not eating any lamb for four months and really missing it, and the menu featured lamb.
Yesterday the time had come to pack our bags and empty out Ruakiwi, and today we put her in storage until next year. Always feel a bit sad, but have so many memories of a wonderful four months.
We so appreciate having Kathy and Steve as our base, they look after us so well, and we always feel as though we have come home. Tonight we are having Kathy’s son and partner for dinner, I bought a leg of lamb and my turn to cook dinner after being waited on for the past few days.  Tomorrow we are off to Heathrow and a morning flight on Friday back to NZ with a 12 hour stop in Singapore…and back to reality.
Last morning in Holland

A rather large tapas platter for two!!!!

Once more, a very gentle crossing of the channel

Evidently there had been a local steam engine day

Lunch with Steve and Kathy

Very pleasant lunch in S & K's garden.
