Sunday August 12, Le Chaylard

Everyone enjoying the show on a warm Sunday morning.

I was a bit of a domestic goddess this morning deciding to hand wash the sheets, towels and other bits and pieces. There is a tap nearby so filled the big bin, added liquid Persil and then gave everything a good “hand agitate”. Ian was my “wringer” and in no time at all we had sheets hanging on a line under our awning and the rest of the washing on the rack hanging outside the window.  With such great warm sunny weather I knew it would dry pretty quickly.
Then it was off on our bikes again, this time heading in the other direction to the town of Cheylard. There are cyclists everywhere, so many come to ride La Dolce Via. Had a bit of fun finding our way around the town, taking a number of wrong turnings but all part of the fun. There was a festival on for the weekend and the town square was full of people watching a couple of comedians putting on a performance especially for the children. They were spell bound.
Found a nice café on the edge of the square and relaxed over a nice salad lunch. Tootled around the streets, amazed at the age of the buildings in this older part of town. Le Chaylard was interesting but not one of the most inspiring towns of our travels.  Then it was back to camp, only a short ride today of about 12kms. The washing was all dry and smelling very sweet.
Last night a few people were playing petanque on the driveway. We wandered out to watch and although they couldn’t speak any English, we knew what they were doing and able to cheer the good shots. There was lots of laughter. Have really enjoyed our relaxing weekend here and all set to continue west again tomorrow.
