Monday August 6, Valence

I am writing this update on my iPad as I lie in bed with air conditioning - we are in a hotel!!! The van started this morning after 10 attempts so we just drove, through the mountains on some extremely windy roads, passing villages I dearly wanted to stop at, and arrived at Mercedes at 10.30 am. Parked Ruakiwi and then we waited and it was 4.30 before they could get to her. Luckily with 36 degree heat, we had aircon in the waiting room.
She started and they shifted her into the workshop and then she refused to start again.  At 6.30 they called it quits having been unable to get a computer diagnostic reading. Not sure if it was their computer cables or our computer. Luckily a German family were in the waiting room and she spoke excellent English, and French so was able to interprete.
The only thing for it was to gather a change of clothes and a few necessities and get a taxi to a nearby hotel.
We will return in the morning and hopefully they have got the bottom of it .... and it is not going to break the bank!!
At least we will get it sorted once and for all and thankfully we are not on a tight schedule, this is just the ups and downs of travelling in your own motorhome.
Hopefully the next blog will be from back on the road again!

What a pain, hope it’s sorted in good time. Went through Valence many years ago on a grand garden tour of France. Only stopped to look at the two huge water towers disguised as art in a park.

Hopefully you’re missing the thunderstorms sweeping France tonight. We’re on the edge of them here in Kent.

"Trust Lippie wasn't expecting a French widow in every bedroom.
