Pub night with Steve and Kathy
Finally on the road again!

Haven’t quite got into the routine of doing my daily blog, which I find not so easy when we are staying with friends but hopefully will get back into it properly once we are touring.
England has turned on some of the most stunning summer weather, blue skies, temperatures in the mid 20’s and a very gentle breeze. It was a perfect day for driving today after leaving Kathy and Steve’s about 9.30, as always, they have looked after us so well and we were able to get our “sea legs” back and tick off all the bits and pieces that needed to get done. Feel really excited to get back on the road, and very quickly remembering where things are and settle into the routine. Cranked up the radio with Willie Nelson and “On the Road Again”  … our theme song!! We drove south to via Kings Lynn and Ely, to the campground at Ardsleigh, traffic was surprisingly light so and easy 3 hour drive, with a stop for a brew on the way. Awning up, chairs out and in no time we were relaxing for the afternoon.
Thursday we collected Ruakiwi from Wakefield’s in Boston where we store her each year before driving next door for a MOT which Steve had booked in for us. Always hold my breath and hope there are no issues but she flew through and it was back to Steve’s and a busy evening unpacking our bags and remembering where to put things. Friday morning, we drove up to Johnsons where they have a small business run by a group of Iranians who clean vehicles. For £35 they gave her a wash then set to and hand polished her as well as giving the roof a good scrub. She looks so good, just like new again. These guys work so fast and there was no stopping for a rest. Well worth the money. While that was getting done, we went into the store and filled the trolley with fresh supplies, then back to the van and stowed it all away. A good feeling.
Friday night and dinner out at the wonderful old Barley Mow Pub in Friskney, a 30 minute drive North of Boston. A good night to relax knowing we were all ready for the road.
And tomorrow we have a 30 minute drive to Harwich and the 10am ferry to Rotterdam.

The new house nearing completion. Steve has
been busy with the landscaping.
