Good Bye Winter!!

Yes, we are leaving winter behind and heading back to Montana on June 1st to collect Ruakiwi from her winter holiday, and heading North to Alaska.
After what has seemed like an endless summer with warm calm weather and near drought conditions, the heavens have broken over the last week, filled up the lake again from the lowest ever levels and left us feeling like we are ready for some warmer weather.
I wandered down to the lake this evening with Molly and my camera to capture the late afternoon on the lake, heavy clouds covering the top of the mountain, looks like the rain is here for a few more days.
Planning this year for our travels has been a bit different, as we will be heading to Alaska's short summer which we understand will be a bit cooler and with quite a lot of rain...and lots of mosquitoes.
Have bought some lightweight trousers and even some nets to put over our hats to try and keep the pesky critters out, although it will only be in certain areas...hopefully.
So overnighting in LA then onto Missoula, Montana via Seattle on the 2nd. Will spend a bit of time there, parked at Richard and Casey Massey's getting over the flights, servicing Ruakiwi, restocking the cupboards and lots of cuddles with Moana and new little Ophelia.
So next blog will be from Montana......and hopefully daily from then on until we return to NZ on September 22nd.

We're looking forward to following your progress and hope you're not too far away from cyber space connections for too long.

Hi Ian and Meg, My folks turned me on to your blog today. I'll look forward to following your travels. I'd sure like to see you two sometime. Maybe it will be next summer, when you finally make it out to the good part of the country. Although, if you were here now, you wouldn't be saying Goodbye to Winter, but hello again. Nothing but cold and rain for the last few weeks in Washington state. Buen viaje!
