Sunday August 16 Gros Ventre Campground, Grand Teton National Park, WY

What a magical morning, looked out the window and could see quite a snowfall on the mountains around us, and as we headed west and higher through the Togwottee Pass snow was everywhere. The conifers were lightly dusted, and the towering mountains behind were covered. Like a kid, I had to get out and make a snowball, as well as take photos!

The only downside was the road works, and the mud had turned to slush caking all the traffic with thick mud.

The whole drive through to Jackson Hole was spectacular and we got some great views of the Grand Tetons. The roads were pretty busy, as was the Park Headquarters at Moose. It’s a magnificent building and enjoyed the park displays.

Jackson Hole is a very busy tourist town, full of galleries and quality souvenirs…and a number of bus tours with Asian tourists.

First stop though was the carwash to get rid of the caked on mud, quite a mission, It was time to do the laundry and found a good spot where we could sit in the carpark while it was washing, have lunch and get online. Picked up a few things at the neighbouring supermarket at the same time, so got all the routine jobs out of the way.

Needed to check out the town, found a parking close by and had a good walk and a browse through some of the galleries. Loved the wooden boardwalks that are throughout the main centre, gave it a real western edge.

Campsite tonight is actually in the park, but down beside Gros Ventre River, looking across to the mountains. Took a walk along the river and spotted a beaver den, and after awhile very briefly we spotted a beaver surfacing. Would love to get a closer look at these creatures.
