Auckland to Los Angeles

Sunday June 28

Sunday June 28

The head is feeling a bit fuzzy as I write this…Sunday has been a really long day. Had a relaxing day with the family, enjoying spending time with the littlies. Not sorry to be heading off to summer, as the rain fell all day. Craig and Nicky and the family came to the airport and Lynn joined us for a drink and meal, a nice farewell.

All well, until we went through security….opening up my carry on luggage, my backpack wasn’t shut properly and my camera fell to the floor. My heart sank, as glass shattered, picked it up to find that the filter on the end had broken. Collected things together and proceeded until I could find a spot to check out the damage. Luckily the camera and lens all work, it appears that the filter is jammed on, so will need to find a good camera store to sort it out.

Very uneventful flight, we managed to change our seats to exit ones, so had plenty of leg room. Arrived in LA to 20 degrees, and a very clear day. Checked into the Marriot Hotel by 4pm, and off to our room, looking forward to a shower. Opened the door, and it stunk of smoke, so huge thanks to the smoker as when we complained, they upgraded us to a very smart room, and entry to the Concierge Room – a lounge for VIP guests with food on hand!

After a shower and unpack, had a good walk around the block, then up to the lounge for a beer and wonderful snacks…..such a shame, Spare Ribs were on offer!

Will have an early night, then onto Chicago and Fort Wayne …and Marge and Ruakiwi tomorrow.

Look's like dad was gutted about having to have spare ribs so early on into the trip.
Good luck with the camera.
