Sandy and Winston with Ian

Today has been one of mixed emotions, happy that we have met with the new owners of Ruakiwi, but sad to think after 50,000 miles and 17 months of travel since 2008 we will be saying farewell to her in a few weeks.
We had seen the town of Lordsburg on the map and felt that it would be a good location for us both to travel to as it was just off the I 10, which worked out really fine, but the town was certainly one that had really seen far better days, and certainly not a place to spend time in unless you needed to refuel!
Enjoyed the drive into Lordsburg this morning,

Lordsburg, a town that seem to have been forgotten.

Sandy and Winston have had several RV’s over the years, even spent some time as full time RV’ers, and were now looking for a smaller unit that they could head off for several months exploring, just as we have. They had been looking for a Born Free and were very happy with the condition Ruakiwi was in, so the deal was done. We will deliver her to them in Tucson, Arizona when we fly out on December 5.
It has worked out well as now we can relax for the last few weeks knowing everything is organised, although it will be a bit nerve wracking…..in all our travels we have never put a mark or dent in Ruakiwi…lets hope we can finish off unmarked!
We drove East to a state park just out of Deming, a great spot and even lit a campfire and sat outside for several hours enjoying the view and the sunset. Today the temperatures have been in the low 20’s, the warmest day we have had for several weeks.
We sat and watched the sunset from our camp tonight.

I'm pleased for you that the sale of Ruakiwi has worked out so well. But those of us who have had the joy of seeing you in the states are just a tad sad...

Thank you for your comments...sorry I don't know who you are, but do appreciate them. I really enjoy sharing our travels.Every day I realise that I have so many people who are following us and I try to get some good photos to share. Keeps me on my toes! We are going to be sad when we head home in December and say farewell to Ruakiwi, but we will go home with so many memories, not just of the sights we have seen but of the wonderful people we have met who are really far more important to us.

Winston and Sandy will be very good to your Rukakiwi. I can assure that you made the right decision to sell it to them. We are classmates and Winston has shared several of his travels in his previous RV's.

Thanks for the contact. We just trust that they get as much enjoyment out of Ruakiwi as we have. It has been a wonderful RV, never let us down but it is time for us to move on and so pleased to have made contact with Winston and Sandy.
