Sunday August 13th, Mehring, Moselle River

Finally...summer!!!

What a difference a day can make, today summer came back in full force, we had forgotten what it was like!!
Woke this morning to blue skies after rain overnight. Had a big trip, just 30 minutes along the Moselle River to a camp we had found that was right on the river and managed to score a really nice spot with panoramic views. Decided to spend this week really relaxing on the river and doing some bike riding before going to visit our friends in Dusseldorf in the weekend.
By the time we got our bikes out after lunch it was really getting warm and we tootled off for a wonderful ride over the bridge and along the banks of the river. Being such a nice Sunday afternoon, everyone was out enjoying the weather and the track was really busy with lots of walkers as well as cyclists and so good to see children out riding to. And saw three other recumbents the same as Ian’s. Big thumbs up as they passed each other!
Bridge over the Moselle we biked over..
with a great view.

The river was really busy with a wide variety of boats including big Bayliners whizzing past, house boats, jet skis, canal cruise boats and barges. It was non-stop action. Surprised not to see any water-skiers or wake boarders and only a few hardy souls were swimming.
Came back and sat out in the sun with our books, just soaking it up, seems ages.
Rather nice boat.

This boat had reflective glass windows.

Tonight's evening light was stunning.
