Sunday November 13, Boston

With Steve and Kathy at the Brownlow Arms for Sunday lunch
A brief update, seems with the holiday winding down….I am winding down a little too! Yesterday the rain fell all day as we drove north to Steve and Kathy’s in Boston, taking the motorway much of the way. Ian managed to slot back into driving on the other side of the road with no issues and we arrived back in Boston mid-afternoon to a very warm welcome. Kathy cooked a great dinner and we caught up on all the news over the past three months. It felt like we had “come home”.
This morning the sun came out and just perfect to take out all our clothes etc that we are bringing home with us, leaving quite a few things ready for next year.  Washed the upholstery in the van and tomorrow after a final vacuum she will go into storage.
Enjoyed watching the TV coverage of the pomp and ceremony of Remembrance Day in London and joined the nation in a two minute silence at eleven oclock.  This afternoon we drove out through the countryside for Sunday lunch at The Brownlow Arms at Hough on the Hill. Back in July we came here for Sunday lunch four days after we arrived and today was like a farewell meal, which felt so different as we sat in the lounge in front of the large open fire. As last time, it was a superb meal.
Just as we left the hotel we spotted the supermoon appearing on the horizon, it was huge and looked really red. Took some photos with my Sony, but disappointed that I hadn’t brought my Canon. The nights are closing in very quickly and by 4.30pm it was really dark, seems so strange.
A very welcoming roaring fire

Steve chose a very nice Spanish Red

A rather exciting night here at Rukuhia...earthquake woke us at 3 min after midnight and contents of water tank below our window sloshed back and forth for about 10 minutes. Very odd watching trees wave about with no wind at all! x J
