Saturday October 29 Blankenheim

Loved the artwork on the outside of this gallery in Blankenheim

This morning we said goodbye to the Mosel River after a great week of thoroughly enjoying the towns, the scenery and the wine, and being here in the autumn was a real bonus.  We headed north west to the Eifel region with hills, farm land and lots of trees. Quite a contrast to the past week. We wound along some of the lesser roads, through small country towns, and then came across Nurburgring..and sorry you petrol heads, I had to read up to find out what it was all about! Turns out to be a 23km racetrack that’s one of motorsports most hallowed pieces of tarmac. And by the number of very sporty hot looking cars zipping around the roads knew exactly where they were going. Quite happy to bypass this town!
Found a good Stellplatz in the small historic town of Blankenheim, and enjoyed a wander around this rather delightful little town with its castle on the hill and half-timbered houses.  The sky cleared and as the sun dropped there was a real chill in the air. Checked the forecast and we are in for a 1 degree night.
Sorry...more autumn colours

..and a bit of a play.

Noticed the doors open in this old garage/museum.
