Introducing "Heatherbelle"

Sunday May 30, 2010
No this is not what we are going to the States in!
Ian started to build this 18 months ago and it has been work in progress since, with the final coat of varnish going on yesterday. Neighbour Bob has been helping him at times, and "Mitre" 12(his shed) has had many visits from locals checking on progress. The plans came from Canada and Ian first made a mould to shape the cedar strips onto, these were then fibreglassed to give it the strength. He has used other native timber including Maire and Kauri.
It will spend the winter in the shed ready to be launched when we get home. Ian's Mum, Heatherbelle will be down to crack the champagne on it.
In the meantime it is back to the final packing and last minute chores.
