August 3 Sunday Rock Lake, Algonquin Provincial Park

What a night….the true colours of the campground became evident. The yelling and shouting went on until about 4 in the morning…we kept getting woken by loud outbursts. Ian slept on until 9.30, once it quietened down! Decided that even though we had paid for another night in the camp, we would call it quits and trust our luck futher north.
Stopped at Haliburton, a very busy holiday town. Wandered around looking for a wifi café, and after a couple of wrong leads found a nice little place, and ordered lunch as well. Fuelled up and headed north to Algonquin State Park.
The drive was superb, true Canadian forest with rocky outcrops and a new lake around every corner. Grabbed a few shots, but wanted to keep moving. Arrived at the park headquarters and were relieved to find that they had campsites available, suggested Rock Lake as being very picturesque, so another 40km’s through the park to the lake. Quite a bit of traffic on the road, but didn’t cause us any problems. Rounded a corner, and saw a lot of cars stopped and people all over the place. Sure we had arrived at an accident, but realised they were all there with their cameras watching a female moose in the bog…I joined them!! Further along the road it happened again…they call them “Moose jams”!,
Rock Lake was just wonderful, and got a good site, looking through to a very pretty lake…probably the best we had seen. Dragged Ian out to explore, walked about 5 kms and got a few pictures, then settled, in for a very nice evening with a few beers. Joined a very friendly bunch camping next door, and enjoyed chatting around their campfire.
